The XXIX Pažaislis Music Festival will arrive for the first time at the vibrant Žemoji Panemunė Manor! An exceptional location where historical mystery meets natural beauty, on August 11th, it invites you to journey along forgotten paths and trails. At 3 p.m., participants will enjoy a picnic “Lunch on the Grass” organized by “Vieno prancūzo sandėliukas” and “La Petite Patisserie”. This elegant picnic, already legendary, is a celebration not only of food but also for connoisseurs of knowledge. As is customary in these picnics, in pursuit of sustainability and coziness, we invite you to bring a cozy blanket, a small wooden table, reusable utensils for delicacies, your beloved cup, and some favorite detail that will make your improvised picnic spot even cozier.
Žemoji Panemunė Manor is the forgotten 17th-century Sapieha Palace, hiding a magnificent, almost 400-year history. The secrets of the vibrant manor’s history will be shared by the manor’s owner, Rasa Jakelienė. And what would a manor be without music! If the walls of the manor could speak, it would be intriguing to hear what music echoed through this estate over the ages. Unfortunately, various troubles plunged not only the Žemoji Panemunė Manor but also a large part of Lithuanian culture into oblivion. Nevertheless, there are no forgotten stories that the charming musicologist Viktoras Gerulaitis couldn’t uncover, so you’ll hear many secrets about music in Lithuanian manors!
In the picnic box for two, you’ll find various types of authentic French cheese, French pastries, and something sweet. They can be purchased until August 6th (or until tickets run out).
At 5 p.m., Žemoji Panemunė Manor will be filled with the enchanting sounds of the VDU Chamber Orchestra, soloists Gabrielė Bukinė and Joris Rubinovas, and conductor Vytautas Lukočius.
Established in 2011 at Vytautas Magnus University’s Academy of Music, the VDU Chamber Orchestra is the only professional chamber orchestra in Kaunas. During its relatively short existence, the orchestra has already held more than 200 concerts in Lithuania and abroad, touring in Cyprus, Germany, the United States, and Georgia. The soloists of this concert are the young stars of the Lithuanian opera, G. Bukinė and J. Rubinovas. The concert program will invite listeners to journey through various eras and countries whose culture is closely linked to Lithuanian manors. Let’s discover the secrets of forgotten history together at the vibrant Žemoji Panemunė Manor!
