The most beautiful romantic moments, time with music and people dear to us – this is how one of the most important classical music ensembles in Kaunas – the Kaunas String Quartet and soloists VILIJA MIKŠTAITĖ and MINDAUGAS ZIMKUS – will invite you to celebrate the Father’s Day in such a meaningful and uplifting way.

The programme will feature the first string quartet of the German composer Robert Schumann’s unique imagination and mastery, as well as works by the Romantic genius Franz Schubert, the Baroque genius Claudio Monteverdi and the pioneer of the American musical, Frederick Loewe.

Fans of the Kaunas String Quartet, which is celebrating its fifth decade of activity, have no doubt that every programme prepared by the ensemble will offer new gems of chamber music. The ensemble has already given over two thousand concerts in various Lithuanian and foreign venues, released several CDs, and won several prestigious awards. The singer M. Zimkus is a well-known soloist of Kaunas State Musical Theatre, who developed his vocal skills under the legendary Lithuanian tenor – Professor Virgilijus Noreika. The singer made his debut at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre twenty years ago and since then has been performing roles in all Lithuanian theatres. He is often invited to perform tenor roles in oratorios and cantatas, and his repertoire is particularly rich in song cycles and modern music. Mezzo-soprano V. Mikštaitė is praised for her very special voice characteristics and charisma. She has performed roles at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, in project performances, and has also been known abroad for her singing.
