The Paleasis ensemble was formed in 2022 at the initiative of the internationally acclaimed, charismatic piano virtuoso Alexander Paley (USA-France). “Not a one-day project, but an ensemble that rehearses, performs and improves on a regular basis – this has long been a dream of mine. I’m thrilled that it was in Lithuania that we managed to turn this dream into a reality. I put together ten professional like-minded musicians with the goal of playing well-known, rarely performed and newly created masterpieces of classical music on stage,” says the virtuoso about how the ensemble came into being. The ensemble debuted on 26 June 2022 during a Pažaislis Music Festival concert at the Kaunas State Philharmonic.

Paleasis has performed concerts all over Lithuania, so in just one year it has gained considerable popularity outside of the big cities as well. In March 2023, the ensemble also had its first tour in the pianist’s native Moldova, during the Martisor Music Festival at the Chișinău philharmonic, where the ensemble was received very well by both the audience and critics, who called the concert “undeniably amazing and full of unforgettable impressions”. Currently, the ensemble is intensively preparing for its introduction to the French public at the Moulin d’Ande festival, and is also looking forward to returning to the Pažaislis Music Festival, which has already managed to become its own.
