“…fine transcriptions, brilliantly played. The faster movements are played with infectious rhythmic energy and joy. Ornaments sparkle like firecrackers, and some of the slower movements are simply ravishing…” (Kenneth Keaton, American Record Guide); “…precision of ensemble, the clarity of articulation, the rhythmic vitality and the exuberant ornamentation” (William Yeoman, Gramophone Magazine) – these are just a few of the critical reviews of the excellence of the MONTENEGRIN GUITAR DUET.
The duo consists of two renowned classical guitarists from Montenegro, Goran Krivokapić and Danijel Cerović. The ensemble is frequently invited to perform in prestigious venues, as well as to give lectures and masterclasses, and to take part in the jury of the most renowned competitions around the world.

The duo’s repertoire is very broad, ranging from transcriptions of early music to original 20th and 21st century compositions. The performers aim to expand the repertoire of the guitar and to integrate the instrument more closely into the chamber music genre. In 2013, the duo released their debut CD, and two years later Naxos released the first of two volumes of J.S. Bach’s English Suites, transcribed by the duo for two guitars. The second volume, published in 2018, crowned this grandiose undertaking. Both CDs have received extremely high critical acclaim, particularly for their historically informed performances. The duo’s fans around the world are now eagerly awaiting the latest CD, featuring Á. Piazzolla’s works.

Guitar virtuoso Goran Krivokapić is the first prize winner of nineteen prestigious international competitions. He has performed throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa, and has appeared at major festivals and concert halls such as the Palace of Lubkowitz, the Concertgebouw and Auditorio Conde Duque. Having previously taught at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy, the Lemmens Institute and the Prince Klaus Conservatory, Krivokapić currently teaches at the Universities of Music in Detmold and Cologne.

Internationally acclaimed Danijel Cerović is a versatile performer, performing as a soloist and chamber musician. He also teaches guitar and chamber music at the Cetinje Academy of Music, the University of Montenegro, and is a permanent guest professor at the Sarajevo Academy of Music and elsewhere. Cerović is the Artistic Director of the International Nikšić Guitar Festival and Competition and one of the founders of the festival.
