The ensemble “Paleasis” returns to the Pažaislis Festival stage. It was formed in 2022 on the initiative of the charismatic piano virtuoso Alexander Paley (USA-France), who has garnered international acclaim. “This isn’t a one-off project, but an ensemble that rehearses, performs, and improves regularly—it’s been a long-held dream of mine. I’m very happy that I was able to make this dream a reality right here in Lithuania. I brought together ten professional musicians, like-minded individuals, with the goal of performing both well-known and rarely performed masterpieces of classical music, as well as premieres still in the making,” says the virtuoso, describing the circumstances of the ensemble’s formation.
The ensemble made its debut on June 26, 2022, at a concert of the Pažaislis Music Festival held at the Kaunas State Philharmonic. “Paleasis” actively performs throughout Lithuania, and in the two years since its founding, the ensemble has become a favorite of audiences in many of Lithuania’s major cities and surrounding towns. In 2023, Paleasis embarked on its first tour to the pianist’s native Moldova, performing at the Chisinau Philharmonic, where the ensemble was highly praised by both the audience and critics, who described the concert as “undeniably wonderful and providing unforgettable impressions.” Paleasis also received excellent reviews during its tour in France at the Moulin d’Ande festival, where their performance was described as “not of a festival level, but of a philharmonic level.”
