On May 25, in the historic wooden Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Prienai—now entering its third century—the bells will ring in anticipation of the 30th anniversary of the Pažaislis Music Festival. The concert, titled “Festival Prelude: A Dedication to Čiurlionis,” will feature the renowned Kaunas State Choir, which has delighted audiences for over fifty years with its powerful and expressive voices.
Widely recognized as an ambassador of Lithuanian choral music, the choir was founded and guided for many years by Professor Petras Bingelis. Today, it is led by Maestro Robertas Šervenikas, who continues to uphold his predecessor’s artistic vision. Every concert by the Kaunas State Choir is a true celebration for music lovers, and this performance will be no exception.
Audiences will enjoy sensitively and professionally performed works by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Juozas Naujalis, and Vaclovas Augustinas. The concert, which marks the official prelude to the 30th Pažaislis Music Festival, will be conducted by the choir’s long-time choirmaster and conductor, Robertas Šervenikas.
