The Belgian chamber orchestra CASCO PHIL, performing for the first time in Northern Europe, will perform in Lithuania at the Pažaislis Music Festival. The innovative and daring ensemble, which has earned a strong reputation for both classical music and experimental cross-genre projects, will present the programme together with one of the most versatile and brightest Estonian pianists – IRINA ZAHHARENKOVA.

CASCO PHIL is a dynamic ensemble that turns all preconceptions about the orchestra on their head. It is a flexible, dedicated group of musicians with a wide repertoire. Drawing on Western European classical music, CASCO PHIL deliberately crosses genre boundaries and enjoys venturing into the realms of contemporary avant-garde, jazz and popular music.
Since its foundation, the ensemble has been led by conductor BENJAMIN HAEMHOUTS, whose work is characterised by its rock ‘n’ roll flavour, creative ideas and a lot of verve”. Driven by Haemhouts’ artistic vision, CASCO PHIL has become a unique phenomenon on the Belgian scene.

The musicians, who are not short of new ideas, say: “As artists, CASCO PHIL is always looking forward. Where should the idea of a traditional orchestra go? How can we renew this old repertoire? What out-of-the-box solutions can we offer to reach new audiences?”
So getting to know this exceptional ensemble is sure to bring new impressions, unexpected sounds and interesting discoveries to Pažaislis Festival audiences!
